R-Value
a measure of insulation properties
The ability of an insulation material to resist heat flow. Also, the specific thermal resistance of an insulation material.
Typically, the higher the R-value of a material, the better the insulating properties it possesses.
Additionally, the R-value increases with a proportional increase in the thickness of the insulating material, for thicknesses more than one meter.
If a sauna has a high R-value it means that it’s able to hold heat for longer, so it reduces the heat costs, and users can enjoy a more comfortable sauna environment during their sessions.
Sometimes R-value is used interchangeably with thermal resistance.
