Put simply, a wood-burning sauna is a type of traditional sauna.
To lower the temperature, users can close the sauna stove to limit the airflow needed for combustion.
On the other hand, if you desire a higher temperature, you can open the stove door to increase the rate of the burn.
Whether you get a good burn (with little smoke) depends on the type of wood used to light the fire.
Ensure you use woods with a low moisture content of between 15%–20%, and low resin content. If you have access to hardwoods like Birch, choose those as they’ll burn better and for longer, compared to softwoods.
A little pile of wood, and some water, and you’ve got your therapist. Patty Salo Downs
