Thermo-Aspen

type of wood

Definition of Thermo-Aspen

Thermally treated Canadian Aspen wood.

Aspen wood is treated to saturated vapor at about 190°C to remove moisture and resin content. As a result, thermo-Aspen wood is far more durable than untreated Canadian Aspen wood.

The extended durability means that thermo-Aspen wood can be used in exterior applications such as exterior paneling of an outdoor sauna like the Cala Wood Cabin Traditional Sauna.

It may also be used in sauna interiors to make benches and backrests because it has a reduced risk of shrinking, swelling, or cracking.

Moreover, it's soft to the touch, has a smooth feel, and won’t warp when exposed to high heat and moisture.

Instead of the light-cream color of untreated Aspen, Thermo-Aspen wood has a dark tan or golden brown color that gives the sauna a classy design.
