Sun Valley Sauna did a great job.
I initially ordered a 4 person unit. I assumed a 1-2 week shipment of the purchase. It is very important that you ensure the unit is in stock when placing the order so that you have a clear expectation of the timeline. Once I discovered the unit would take nearly two months to become available I worked with Sun Valley Sauna to fix my frustration. The discussion took a few e-mails, phone calls, and text messages. Ultimately, they changed my order at no additional cost. I ended up with a smaller unit and it was a blessing in disguise.
Review of the unit:
Shipment was packaged very well. Heater showed up separately. The units come from china and likely distribution centers throughout the US. The Sauna came from a port in California so again manufactured in China and distribution from the coast.
6kw unit is perfect for this size of a unit. There is a break in period for the unit that I would say is around 2-3 weeks. Once you hit this timeframe the heater gets hotter than you need. I can get the unit above 190.
The assembly is relatively easy. The assembly instructions lack a bit to be desired but generally get the job done. I would suggest Sun Valley get some techy team members and create some youtube videos of several unit assemblies. Maybe do this when you upgrade your show room units. words of advice don't overtighten anything. Also, the fit and finish are, lets call it rustic. Likely built 6 months ago and sent over on shipping containers. Wood warps and twist's so the alignment is not amazing. Just set your expectation of this going into the assembly. The ceiling panel fit the worst. The panel doesn't line up with any of the pre-installed trim. Doesn't affect the performance. The heater is the really the most important part of the assembly.
The glass doors allow cold air in but with some glass door sweeps from a big box store you can reduce this to an acceptable level.
The unit sits directly on the concrete floor in my basement. The floor radiates the colder maintained space of the basement. This causes the heat to be extreme at the ceiling and very much cooler at the floor of the unit. This is an obvious challenge for likely all sauna's because of hot and cold thermals. I'm considering building an insulated floor to mitigate this problem.
This particular unit has lighting and bluetooth speakers. Lighting is better than expected. controller for the lights and speakers is built into the back panel. I'm not a huge fan of the controller as it has a lockout feature that is a pain to unlock. The sound is fine and you can play books on tape or some zen yoga mix both of which I lover to have as a feature.
Overall I'm very satisfied. The sauna experience is what I was after. I have been using it roughly 4-5 days a week since it arrived. I love getting into the sauna after a long day of stress and especially on those long dark cold winter nights.
