The 5 Best Cedar Infrared Saunas (2023)

Hail Cedar!

For a lot of people cedar wood is synonymous with saunas.  I know for me the smell of cedar immediately makes me think of sitting in a nice hot sauna and calms me down.  Cedar wood is beautiful and comes in a few different color varieties, including white and red.  Cedar saunas are also naturally anti-microbial, meaning you don't have to work as hard to keep your sauna clean because the cedar wood does all the work for you.  In fact, animals like rodents won't even go near cedar because of these properties

Cedar is also super strong and holds up well in damp climates.  It doesn't bend, shrink or warp, even in really severe weather.  This makes it a great wood for outdoor saunas, especially in places with colder temperatures and rain and snow.

Lastly, cedar is more sound resistant than other woods.  Cedar is relatively more porous than other woods and that allows it to absorb noise.  For sauna enthusiasts looking for a quiet sanctuary in their home, cedar is a really great option.

These are just a few of the reasons why cedar is the preferred wood for most sauna enthusiasts.

Cedar is typically more expensive than other woods used in saunas, including hemlock, spruce and pine.  But because of the properties mentioned above most people find that the increased price is worth it.  So whether you're planning on building your own sauna, or you're looking for an easy infrared sauna kit, cedar is a really fantastic option with lots of unique benefits compared to other woods.

Below are seven of our favorite cedar infrared saunas.

1. Maxxus Saunas 4 Person Near Zero EMF Infrared Canadian Red Cedar Sauna, MX-K406-01-ZF CED, Montilemar Edition

Cedar is the standard bearer in the sauna world for a reason.  It's durable, anti-microbial and provides great sound protection.  The smell of cedar alone has the power to calm us down and remind us that the sauna session we're about to get into is our own personal time.  The cost of cedar may be a bit more than hemlock or spruce, but as we stated above we think the added benefits (superpowers?) of cedar are totally worth it.

Looking for an infrared sauna can be a super overwhelming endeavor, so please feel free to give us a call and one of our sauna experts is happy to help you narrow your choices down.
